Comes complete with an 18″ brass rod and a 12″ by 18″ US flag attached to a sturdy 3/8″ dowel.
Made of heavy cast bronze and coated with a clear finish after powder coating and burnishing. Comes in a specially designed shipping box, with an American Flag on a 3/8″ dowel and a brass rod that screws in to the back of the marker.
The lower picture shows the back of the marker, with several bronze wood screws attached with shipping tape. These screws came from the restoration of the Coast Guard Motor Lifeboat CG36500 during the winter of 2008-09. Thirteen pounds of saved bronze screws and bolts were turned into molten bronze at the foundry to cast a very limited number of these markers. Four were made to present to the familiies of the four crewmen that participated in the “Pendleton” rescue back in 1952. The men all received the Coast Guard Gold Lifesaving medal. ( Check out www.cg36500.org for more info about the boat and the rescue.)
The regularly produced markers are identical in appearance to the one shown, but ARE NOT made from parts from any Coast Guard boat and are priced accordingly.
NOTE: Due to the weight of this particular marker, the cost of materials and the cost of shipping necessitated a $10.00 price increase as of March 22, 2013.
